Spotlight on Dawn Robertson!!

Give Dawn Robertson a warm welcome to the Asylum today!

About Dawn:

Dawn Robertson is a twenty-something romance author and mother. She lives in sunny senior-citizen packed Florida, where she wrangles her kids, and Pitbull puppy.

Dawn can normally be found swearing like a sailor, making late night drive-thru appearances, arguing with her kids (or being run over by their power wheels), reading a steamy romance while hiding in her bathroom, writing her little heart out on her laptop (or dragging her Macbook to the Genius bar praying they can save her latest work in progress), or sipping on a smoothie. She loves to hear from her fans, readers, and authors alike. Feel free to drop her a message.

Dawn rarely takes life seriously, so be sure to expect heavy sarcasm from her. She is also the life of the party, so be sure to meet up with her at one of the many author events she will be attending in the next couple months. Buy her a shot of whiskey, and she will love you for life.

Indigo’s Asylum welcomes Isobelle Cate!

Today I welcome the lovely Isobelle Cate to the Asylum! Make sure to check below for blurbs, covers and links to her work!

Let’s meet the lady behind the romance herself and get to know her, shall we?

Isobelle Cate is a woman who wears different masks.  Mother-writer, wife-professional, scholar-novelist.  Currently living in Manchester, she has been drawn to the little known, the secret stories, about the people and the nations:  the English, the Irish, the Scots, the Welsh, and those who are now part of these nations whatever their origins.  Her vision and passion are fuelled by her interest and background in history and paradoxically, shaped by growing up in a clan steeped in lore, loyalty, and legend.

Isobelle is intrigued by forces that simmer beneath the surface of these cultures, the hidden passions, unsaid desires, and yearnings unfulfilled.

And now for the 21…

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your books.

I’m a mother-writer, wife-professional, scholar-novelist. I currently live in Manchester, UK and I’ve been drawn to the little known, the secret stories, about the people and the nations: the English, the Irish, the Scots, the Welsh, and those who are now part of these nations whatever their origins. My books are fuelled by my interest in the esoterica and my background in history.  I’ve always been interested in myths and legends having grown up and shaped by a clan steeped in lore, loyalty, and legend.  My books have that tinge of myth and legend that can be real.

My first published novella, Love in Her Dreams is about finding the man of your dreams, literally. In one word, it’s called Kismet. My first paranormal series about the Cynn Cruor is about an immortal breed of warriors, their fight to vanquish evil, and how they find the woman they were meant or destined to be with. Again, it’s Kismet. That said, all of my heroes and heroines have to go through some kind of test or conflict before they can finally find the love they are looking for. It makes the journey all the more fulfilling.

2. What genre(s) do you write?

Paranormal and Contemporary romance. I also write Historical Fiction under another name.

3. What was it like to see your first book published?

Oh wow….speechless, gobsmacked, initially indescribable. J It’s the feeling you get after so much heartache and frustration, then everything falls into place and self-doubt just disappears.

4. How dear to your heart is writing? Do you think you’ll continue to write for the rest of your life?

I think writing is in my blood. Seriously. If I didn’t write fiction, I’d probably be writing reports and that’s what I actually do in my day job. 🙂 A lot of the men and women in my clan write in one form or another. I started writing when I was 14 and continued to do so on and off. Only recently have I been able to really sit down and put the bits and pieces together.

5. Do you ever lock up?  Have those moments where you just stare at your screen and think, “Yeah…I got nothing”?

No not really, yet.  It’s more of “how do I put what my characters want me to say on paper?”.  Sometimes the entire scene is already inside my head. My fingers just don’t want to fly over the keyboard.

6. How difficult is it for you to come up with ideas for your books?

At the moment, not that difficult. The concepts are already there.  It’s just really a matter of getting it down on paper.

7. What about characters? Are the names and personalities difficult to develop?

For Love in Her Dreams Alec’s and Tamsyn’s name just came to me. For Rapture at Midnight and Forever at Midnight of the Cynn Cruor Bloodline series, I had to find old names that spoke of the longevity of the heroes’ existence. For my heroines, I had to also look for names that bridged the old and new. Eirene’s name is a derivation of Irene but spelled in a more Gaelic way, perhaps? Deanna is another way of spelling Diana.

The personalities of the couples I’ve written about were not that difficult to develop. I just went with the names and asked “How would they be like?” or “What if s/he was like this or like that?”.  However, I’ve come to realize that as the story grows the new characters whose stories I write become more complicated.  So far, I’ve been able to weather it and I hope I continue to do so.

8. Do you ever find yourself struggling as a writer?

As in rejections and bad reviews? Oh definitely. It smarts and you feel that you’re no good. But you keep on trying. At the end of the day, agents really look at those stories that sell, that follow the trend. I don’t blame them. It is after all, their bread and butter. Reviewers have a certain type of book in their minds and if my book isn’t what they’re really looking for, then it’s what they comment on.  Each review has something that can help make one a better writer.  But I do feel bad for struggling writers who are really good in their genre and are not given a chance. Thank God for small publishers and indie publishing.

On the other hand, when it comes to stories, yes, it can be a struggle especially when you’re at a loss for words.  If vocabulary was a person, s/he’d need to take a vacation after the writer is done with a book. J

9. About how long does it take for you to complete a book, from concept to completion?

It depends.  When I’m really inspired, it can take me just a little over a month to write two books. At the moment, it’s taking me longer to finish several concepts and write because my day job can get in the way of my writing. I am just very fortunate that my officemates know my secret and have been very supportive. As long as I do well at work, I can write during my office breaks.

10. Do you have a ritual before, during and after finishing a book?

Before writing, I need to have my mug of coffee. I can’t do away with it. During….still coffee. After…..maybe hot choc or a glass of Apothic Red (sorry for the plug but this wine is really good). After I finish writing a book, I move on to the next one, read a favorite author’s book, or edit another author’s manuscript.

11. Do you have a special time or place to write?

I write anywhere I’m comfortable. Sometimes I can’t get the ideal place to write so I have to make do. I can’t let the surroundings stop me from writing especially when I’m on a roll. Like my characters, I adapt. 😉

12. Any funny experiences or quirks you’d like to share with your readers?

If I find an empty space, I tend to fill it up with books and drafts to the exasperation of my family. J

13. How do you find the time to balance your writing and family life?

My family knows that I need to spend as much time in my writing as I can. I spend quality time with them during the weekends so we go out to the movies or talk while we eat. Sometimes we go into town and just walk around.

14. How much down-time do you take between books? Or do you just jump right into the next?

I don’t. I jump right into the next book.  Now that I write, I feel edgy if I don’t. If I take a break, there is a reason for doing so….like watch Tom Mison as Crane in Sleepy Hollow or watch a little bit of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Dracula.

15. Do you have any interesting hobbies that you enjoy?

Writing was a hobby before I published. I read a lot – works of my favorite authors, manuals to help hone the craft, read the classics (I’m into Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations at the moment), listen to music – pretty eclectic, cook when I can, walk in the park.

16. If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?

Tuscanny.

17. What’s next on your agenda?  Any new books in the works?

I’m co-authoring two books with two authors so at the moment I’m doing loads of edits on the drafts. I’m also in the middle of writing the next books in the Cynn Cruor series. I’ll also probably self-publish a contemporary romance novella.

18. What advice would you give to others who want to make writing their career?

Never give up. It is definitely an uphill climb and it still is. Being a published author doesn’t guarantee smooth sailing. But never give up. Don’t take rejections or reviews personally. If you do, accept the feeling and then move on. And most of all, never, ever procrastinate. That will only make you lose your momentum and you’ll never get anywhere. If you say you don’t have the time, make the time. You want to make a go of writing, right? So do what it takes to make it happen.  If you need to take a break do so. If it’s only a sentence that you’re able to write, write it down. If you can’t reach your word count for the day, don’t be disheartened. But never give up or procrastinate. Be disciplined. It’s easier said than done, I know. But if you keep at it, it will become a habit that will make you all the better for it.

19. What authors inspire you?

Those who are tug at the heartstrings authors like Sable Hunter. Those who have created worlds that make you believe they’re real and again who make you feel every emotion, every heartbreak or angst of the characters they create like Donna Grant and Tina Folsom. Those who are incredible wordsmiths in their respective genres like Natasza Waters and Gray Dixon. Last but not the least, those who give me food for thought like Kahlil Gibran or the human condition, like Aurelius, Shakespeare or Steinbeck.

20. What’s something unique about you that not many people might know?

Hahaha. Can we keep it that way?

 21. Is there anything you would like to share about your writing and publishing experience that might inspire and support new and struggling writers?

Like with everything you want in life, it entails sacrifice. This is also true with writing. Even with small publishers, they will expect you to make sure that your manuscript is as flawless as it can be. Typographical and grammatical errors must be avoided. Most importantly, read. Always read. Whether it be works of other authors, the newspaper, or manuals about writing, keep reading. Please don’t be disheartened too.

The one thing I learned about writing is that if you want to get people to read your stories, make the stories interesting. If you want to use real life in your writing, by all means do so – but what is it your story can do that in real life you’d probably hesitate doing? Always raise the stakes to keep the readers turning the pages and make sure that all the loose ends are tied at the conclusion of the book. If there is a cliffhanger, try to resolve some problem in the story so that readers will want to read the next book to see the resolution to the cliffhanger you previously created.

When you think that your manuscript is good enough for a publisher to look at, don’t send it. Yet. Leave it for a week or two and then come back to it. You will have a different set of eyes and you’ll want to make the manuscript much better. When you really feel that it’s the best that it can possibly, then send your manuscript out.

Take your time when you write. The pressure can be really intense to be able to come out with a book but if your gut is telling you that your manuscript is not going to pass muster, then you need to listen to it.

The Journey Begins

Image

As many of my facebook friends know, this last week marked the beginning of a life change for me.  Hubs had a doctor’s appointment, that was a little scary to be honest.  It was a wake up call for the both of us, and that was when we made the decision to become healthier. We started by going for walks, and we now do sit-ups, crunches, squats, and push-ups together as well.  The first few times were rough, I’m not even going to lie.  We are anything but, in shape.  It’s really freaking hard breaking habits that have been in play for years.  But, we’re doing it together, and I know that because of that, we will succeed.  He motivates me when I feel like giving up.  And I, in turn, encourage him when he’s in a rut.  And you know what?  It gets easier every day.

Tonight while we were walking, he reached out to hold my hand.

Even after almost twelve years of marriage, that spark is still there, and I know he’s got my back no matter what.  It’s those little things in life that make it worthwhile.  Everything is easier when you have someone to support you. ❤

And now…the 21!

1.    Tell us a little about yourself and your books.
I write hot and sexy, although if you asked my promo queen, she’s say I write     hot and slutty smut. Hee hee. The hotter the better and if there’s a second     chance to be had in the story, score!

2.    What genre(s) do you write?
I write contemporary, some paranormal and some LGBT under my pen name, Megan Slayer.

3.    What was it like to see your first book published?
Great balls of fire, Batman. That’s what it was like.  I jumped up and down.     Screamed. Said wow, this is so WEIRD!! Yep, I’m a bit…different.

4.    How dear to your heart is writing? Do you think you’ll continue to write for the rest of your life?
My heart started out in art. I loved art and teaching it, but four years teaching high school cured me of that. I have always wanted to write and was pretty good at making up stories (don’t ask my folks, they’ll say I was REALLY good at it). As long as the characters keep talking, I’ll keep writing.

5.    Do you ever lock up?  Have those moments where you just stare at your screen and think, “Yeah…I got nothing”?
Yep. And usually when I’ve got a HUGE deadline looming.  I bust out the Duran Duran, watch a movie or two (or three), and use the tried and true pencil and paper.

6.    How difficult is it for you to come up with ideas for your books?
Depends. I saw this gent at the home improvement store. He had an original name, so I ran with it. Turns out the name was a wolf shifter. The guy himself is in a short story I’ve yet to finish. Others, like my racing series come from simply being at the track and wondering what would happen if….

7.    What about characters? Are the names and personalities difficult to develop?
Yes and no. If I’m working on a couple of stories at the same time, sometimes they bleed together.  Other times, they are so different, I’m good. I have character sheets for all of them in case I need to check back. Yep, I’m a checker.

8.    Do you ever find yourself struggling as a writer?
Like every day. Promo can be a pain. Where to promo, how much to do? It’s mind boggling sometimes.

9.    About how long does it take for you to complete a book, from concept to completion?
This one depends on the book, too. If it’s for a rush project, then around two weeks. If it’s a longer book, it can take up to a year. But that’s where having crit partners is fantastic. If I have to rush on something, I run it by them to make sure it doesn’t suck, there aren’t huge plot holes, the characters are consistent and all that.

10.    Do you have a ritual before, during and after finishing a book?
Nope. I wish I did. I do tend to have notes in a notebook to begin with. I deviate from the notes often during the writing and when it’s done, there’s always chocolate.

11.    Do you have a special time or place to write?
Not really, but I try to write after the fam goes to bed. Then I get quiet.

12.    Any funny experiences or quirks you’d like to share with your readers?
I have to have music or a movie playing when I write. Have to. If I don’t, I can’t focus.

13.    How do you find the time to balance your writing and family life?
Good question. Sometimes I don’t know that it does balance. That’s about the time I take a mental health day and spend it with them.

14.    How much down-time do you take between books? Or do you just jump right into the next?
I’m a jumper—feet first right in to the next one. Unless I’m really stuck. But usually right on in.

15.    Do you have any interesting hobbies that you enjoy?
Annoying my cats, drawing, killing plants with my black thumb, finding new and inventive ways to lose the ‘T’ key on my computer…arguing with the announcers on the stock car races…

16.    If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
California to say I’ve been there. NY Times Square on NYE. London. Rome… Gee, I want to go to a lot of places.

17.    What’s next on your agenda?  Any new books in the works?
Always. I’m currently working on my next Track Domination book, Switching Gears. And as Wendi I’m working on my next witches book, but it’s currently untitled.

18.    What advice would you give to others who want to make writing their career?
Grow a thick skin, read as much as you can, don’t give up and write, write, write.

19.    What authors inspire you?
Lots of people. Too many to name. Cheryl Dragon, KA Mitchell, Gayle Donnelly and Robyn Mackenzie, Lydia Michaels, Anne Rainey….

20.    What’s something unique about you that not many people might know?
Snarf. I don’t know. I’m a pretty open person. Um… I don’t have any tattoos. I’m not fond of needles and I have no idea what I’d get if I got a tattoo.

21.    Is there anything you would like to share about your writing and publishing experience that might inspire and support new and struggling writers?
Get a crit partner. Just because YOU think it’s a great book and your MOM thinks it’s a great book, doesn’t mean it doesn’t need polished some more. Crit partners, ones you can REALLY trust, are like gold.

Milly Taiden’s WOLF FEVER Blog Tour Stop!!

Image

Milly is Taking over today! Thank you for stopping by! 🙂

Author Bio:
Want to know about me? Milly Taiden (aka April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. She grew up between New York, Florida and Massachusetts. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
She’s addicted to shopping for shoes, chocolate (but who isn’t?) and Dunkin Donuts coffee.

How I Relax
I love traveling. One of the most amazing things about going some place else is that you have the ability to leave it all behind. Traveling is so much for me. I can literally feel the stress drain away as I step on to that plane. One of my favorites places to go is Dominican Republic (the place I was born) My mom has a house out there. It is so fun. I get to hang out with friends from when I was a little girl, family, new friends and just enjoy myself. Sometimes in order to really relax, we have to get away from it all. Relaxing at home is a little more intense. I have to leave the house. Shopping tends to relax me. But not for myself. I love shopping for others. My sister, my niece, my kid, heck for giveaways. I don’t care. Shopping is just fun. I also love going out to eat in different restaurants. I am definitely a foodie. I joke around with my best friend all the time and tell her if I ever show up to her town (she lives in a very small town) the people are going to go up to her and offer her money to get rid of the diva. LOL. I am certainly a NYer. I love the spa, restaurants, and if I can pay for someone to carry my handbag, I would. I am so lazy LOL. But I admit to loving to hang out with friends and do fun stuff.  Relaxation comes in different forms. Sometimes just chatting through messenger with another author that understands my stresses and other times just with one of my girls who listens to my ranting and raving. Milly can get paranoid very often.

Blurb:
When Raine Bowe volunteers for a sleep study for the extra cash, she didn’t expect to wake in a lab or to be victimized by a mad scientist. She escapes with one objective–to find someone strong enough to wage war with the evil growing inside her.

Ryder Storm is a man with a reputation–the bad boy of his own universe. He doesn’t take prisoners, won’t give into a sweet smile, and doesn’t cut his pack an inch of slack. He knows the desperate woman in his bar is his the moment he lays eyes on her. He’ll give her anything she wants, except the one thing she’s begging for. Death.

Raine enlists Ryder’s help to unravel the mystery surrounding the hours she lost in the lab and to help tame the beast inside her. In their search for answers, the road will lead them to a twisted experiment involving shifters, humans, and the creation of the ultimate Alpha. He’s ready for the adventure and she’s ready for her answers. Neither are ready for the lust that calls down from the mating moon. But a wolf knows its mate, and an alpha will not stop until he or she gets what they want.

Excerpt:
Run!
The loud hammering of Raine’s heart drowned out the single word bouncing around her mind—and the dogs barking at her back. Their angry growls faded the faster she ran. A little further. Just a little more, and she’d be home free.
Trees swooshed past her with every step she took away from the small isolated facility. She ignored the hospital gown swinging against her legs and the blood dripping down her arms from the torn IVs. Barefoot, the rocks bit into the soles of her feet. None of that mattered. She had to survive. Her life depended on getting as far away from that place as possible.
Inhaling the comforting scent of mud, trees, and the wild, she barely heard the barking over the breeze rustling through the willows with each step she put between them. At any other time, she’d have dissected her reaction to the forest. Not now. And she didn’t stop. No way was she getting captured again without a fight.
Air beat in and out of her lungs in tandem with the pounding of her feet on the rocky ground. Moonlight filtered through the branches overhead, highlighting her path. Her hair caught on the tree limbs, snatching at the loose strands. Some of the hanging vines prodded her arms and stabbed her sides. Her breath hitched, and she missed a step, lurching forward. Something inside her tightened. Her arms swayed and her core muscles flexed. Before she face planted, everything balanced out. She blinked. More scared now than she’d ever been in her life. Something controlled her body and it had reflexes far superior to a normal human.
Moisture gathered in her eyes, blurring her vision. She blinked it away. Panic would only get her caught.
Raine glanced at the moon. It had shifted twice—now in front of her, rather than behind. She stilled. The trees rustled with the wind. An owl hooted. But she still didn’t hear the annoying bay of the dogs.
Ragged breaths beat hard in her ears. A horn’s blare sounded in the distance. Fear and excitement gave her a burst of energy. Cars meant help. She urged her body faster.
Street lights peeked through the trees. Air panted out of her chest. A second car honked, speeding past another. She was almost there. So close. Thank god. She was going to make it.
Slowing down at the edge of a hill, she darted glances around the now quiet street. No people milled about or walked around. Nothing. A big store, one she recognized from the one time she’d gotten lost in the shadier side of town, sat a block to her right. The sudden quiet made sense now. Nothing good happened this far south of Tempting Eats. It was known as the dead side. The thought alone gave her chills. Women went missing…all the time. That had been enough to keep her uptown in suburbia-peace-nation.
She glanced around, searching for anyone who might be waiting for her or even any of the dangerous men her neighbors said roamed the streets, but there was nothing, not a single being. Her feet hit the pavement in a rush. Once across the street, she hid inside a dark alley. The stench of rotting food and piss coated the air with a thick blanket of disease and chaos. Her throat convulsed, and the acidic taste of bile hit the back of her tongue.
Retreating, she took several steps toward the end of the street to a small motel. Its yellow, neon Vacancy sign blinked on and off with a buzz. A man’s yell pushed her to slink into the dark. The sound came from the shadows in front of the motel.

Excerpt:
This is it, Elizabeth thought as she pushed through the door to deliver a large batch of chocolate and vanilla sugar cookies to the display case. It was grand opening day for Guilty Pleasures, and she couldn’t be more excited or more nervous. Years of scrimping and saving had accumulated to this day. In a matter of minutes the bakery would be open for business, and their city would officially have their first taboo sweet shop.
Elizabeth took one final look around, making sure everything was perfect, when Felicia, her business partner and friend, appeared next to her, chomping on a fornication cookie.
Out of all the sugary creations crafted for the shop, Elizabeth and Felicia would agree these were the most fun to develop. They spent many wine-filled nights brainstorming and researching ideas for the inserts.
“What’s it say, babe?” Elizabeth asked, nodding toward the paper in Felicia’s hand.
Felicia laughed and read the naughty message, “Two heads are better than one, but three, now that’s what I call a party!” As she tucked the paper into her back pocket, she asked, “I forget. Was this yours or mine?”
“I actually think your man deserves credit for this one.” Grinning, Elizabeth grabbed the sampler plate off the counter and walked toward the front door, turning to take one final look around before the place filled up. She couldn’t be any prouder of the decor in her little slice of heaven. She glanced to her left and smiled proudly as she admired the photos on the wall.
The food photographer they had hired did a fantastic job capturing the beauty and sexiness of several corset cakes available for purchase. But the icing on the cake, so to speak, was the mural to the right of the entrance. A local artist painted “What Are Your Guilty Pleasures” but the letters were actually naked people in compromising naughty positions.
Felicia giggled. “Oh yeah, it’s all coming back to me now. We definitely drank way too much that night.”
Nodding in agreement, Elizabeth turned on the neon sign and opened the doors for business.
Already, a few eager customers were waiting by the window. They actually applauded when Elizabeth stepped out of the shop door. She greeted them with a smile and offered them their choice of iced cocks or boobs. She wasn’t surprised the guests blushed when they made their selection and bit into the cookie. She expected to witness many rosy cheeks in the hours ahead of them—giggles too.
As the streets began to fill up with people going to work, Elizabeth tried to coax even more passersby into the shop with her funny shout-outs such as: “I bet our peckers taste as good as your man’s. No wait, even better!” And, “Our breasts are fantastic and all natural.” All the while she held up a naughty treat.
After the bell dinged behind her a couple dozen times, she realized the humorous approach to draw in customers was working like a charm. Now with them inside, she had no doubt every person who’d entered the shop erected from her dreams would be a repeat customer. And with this thought, she knew the many dinners of Ramen noodles were well worth the discomfort it cost her over the years.

And now…for the famous 21…

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your books.
(KAM) Kameron and Dirk, a passionate couple in and out of the bedroom, has decided to join forces and bring their erotic imagination to life with words. Their solo stories are electric; however, the works they create together will practically sizzle off the page. Yes, they might live in a quiet suburb neighborhood, but they’re anything but tame and unadventurous. A fact you shall read and learn about soon enough.

2. What genre(s) do you write?
(KAM) We write erotic romance stories – straight, lesbian, gay, and ménage.

3. What was it like to see your first book published?
(Kam) Dirk and I were both shocked and overjoyed to get accepted at Razor’s Edge Press / Changeling Press. We actually didn’t think we’d get picked up the first time out. Reviews, public and private, have been amazing. We are truly blessed!

4. How dear to your heart is writing? Do you think you’ll continue to write for the rest of your life?
(KAM) I’ve always loved writing. Many years ago, I wrote poetry. Then, I progressed to children’s books. Now, I’m only concentrating on erotic stories.
How long will we write? I guess that depends on how long people still love reading what we create. Let’s hope that’s many years to come!

5. Do you ever lock up?  Have those moments where you just stare at your screen and think, “Yeah…I got nothing”?
(KAM) I think it happens to the best of us. When it happens to me, I either seek Dirk’s advice or close the laptop to catch up on TIVO.

6. How difficult is it for you to come up with ideas for your books?
(KAM) Dirk excels in dirty talk so not very hard at all. <winks>

7. What about characters? Are the names and personalities difficult to develop?
(KAM) When I create a character, the name sort appears in my head. Magic! As for personalities, I don’t plan who will be shy, dominant, bubbly, etc. That develops as I start the interactions.

8. Do you ever find yourself struggling as a writer?
(KAM) The biggest struggle I have is balancing real life with fantasy life. I usually don’t write during the day and at night, it all depends on what’s going on. I try hard not to spend every night on the keyboard because that’s cuts into “adult” time and we can’t have that. <grins>

9. About how long does it take for you to complete a book, from concept to completion?
(KAM) The answer to this question varies depending on school, health, conferences, and various pop-up obstacles. When luck is on my side, I can get a draft down in a month. When it’s not, WIP’s sit in a file until the distractions have eased up.

10. Do you have a ritual before, during and after finishing a book?
(KAM) Nothing before or during, but after…..I do one helluva happy dance!

11. Do you have a special time or place to write?
(Kam) Night time: Red/black oversized flannel robe, end spot of the sectional, and a bowl of plain popcorn.

12. Any funny experiences or quirks you’d like to share with your readers?
(Kam) Hmmm, not off the top of my head.

13. How do you find the time to balance your writing and family life?
(KAM) When the kids are awake, it’s family time unless we’re doing edits. Then, Dirk and I take turns entertaining the kiddos while the other works. We are truly a dynamic team!

14. How much down-time do you take between books? Or do you just jump right into the next?
(KAM) Lately, we haven’t been working on one idea after another. We’ve been undergoing home renovations and as I am typing this, we have half a bathroom stripped of wallpaper. Speaking of which, I better type fast and get back to work. The bath guy will be here before I know it.

15. Do you have any interesting hobbies that you enjoy?
(KAM) I love to work on the yard – brick work, sawing trees, shoveling dirt. I am a total tomboy. Dirk loves to build and work on his Mustang.

16. If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
(KAM) I want to visit all of Europe so I will pick the entire continent.

17. What’s next on your agenda?  Any new books in the works?
(KAM) Now that “Naughty Delights” is signed, sealed and delivered, we will either open up two WIP’s that have been on the backburner for a while OR maybe write a sequel to the bakery story. Unsure right now.

18. What advice would you give to others who want to make writing their career?
(KAM) Not every author is lucky enough to get contracted the first time out. Many times, it takes several submissions. Rejection letters are hard but if you have the PASSION to write, then never give up on your dream. Remember, all it takes is one yes and then your foot is in the door FOREVER!

19. What authors inspire you?
(KAM) So many but I will give you a few names from my bookcases: Pamela Palmer, Cheyenne McCray, Christine Feehan, Kresley Cole, Lora Leigh, James Patterson, Lara Adrian, Gena Showalter, Karen Moning, and Jaci Burton.

20. What’s something unique about you that not many people might know?
(KAM) I do not like to cross bridges over water. For many years, I’ve dreamt an earthquake occurs when I’m crossing one, the bridge breaks and my vehicle plummets to the water. SCARY!

 21. Is there anything you would like to share about your writing and publishing experience that might inspire and support new and struggling writers?
(KAM) If you get blocked, just walk away. Come back to it, not when you have free time, but when you feel compelled to carry on the story.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit with us here today!  Now, inquiring minds need to know…where can your readers stalk you?

(KAM) Thank you so much for having me here. As always, it was a pleasure speaking with you.
